Men's Ministry
Wow, it's the month of June already. Time sure flies.
This month we have FLAG Day on June 14th.
Flag Day - the anniversary of the Flag Resolution of 1777 - was officially established by the Proclamation of President Woodrow Wilson on May 30th, 1916. While Flag Day was celebrated in various communities for years after Wilson's proclamation, it was not until August 3rd, 1949, that President Truman signed an Act of Congress designating June 14th of each year as National Flag Day.
Display the American Flag in honor of this great nation and thank God for our freedom.
FATHERS DAY on the 15th
Ephesians 5:33: Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her.
Colossians 3:18: Husbands, love your wives and do not be harsh with them.
Colossians 3 21: Fathers , do not embitter your children, or they will become discouraged.
Ephesians 6:1-4: Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. Honor your father and mother--which is the first commandment with a promise--that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth. Fathers, do not exasperate your children, instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.
What Makes A Dad --
God took the strength of a mountain, The majesty of a tree, The warmth of a summer sun, The calm of a quiet sea, The generous soul of nature, The comforting arm of night,The wisdom of the ages,The power of the eagle's flight,The joy of a morning in spring, The faith of a mustard seed, The patience of eternity, The depth of a family need, Then God combined these qualities, When there was nothing more to add, He knew His masterpiece was complete, And so, He called it ... Dad

In the United States, the first modern celebration of Fathers Day was held on July 5, 1908 in Fairmont, West Virginia. It was first celebrated as a church service at Williams Memorial Methodist Episcopal Church South, now known as Central United Methodist Church. Grace Golden Clayton, who is believed to have suggested the service to the pastor, is believed to have been inspired to celebrate fathers after the deadly mine explosion in nearby Monongah the prior December. This explosion killed 361 men, many of them fathers and recent immigrants to the United States from Italy. Another possible inspiration for the service was Mothers Day, which had been celebrated for the first time two months prior in Grafton, WestVirginia a town about 15 miles away.
Another driving force behind the establishment of the integration of Father's Day was Mrs.Sonora Smart Dodd, born in , Creston Washington. Her father, the Civil war veteran William Jackson Smart, as a single parent reared his six children in Spokane, Washington. She was inspired by 'Anna Jarvis efforts to establish Mother's Day. Although she initially suggested June 5, the anniversary of her father's death, she did not provide the organizers with enough time to make arrangements, and the celebration was deferred to the third Sunday of June. The first June Father's Day was celebrated on ,June 19,1910 in Spokane, WA.
President Calvin Coolidge recommended it as a national holiday in 1924. In 1966, President Lyndon Johnson made a holiday to be celebrated on the third Sunday of June. The holiday was not officially recognized until 1972, during the presidency of .Richard Nixon.
First day of Summer on the June 20th
Psalm 100:
Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth. Worship the Lord with gladness, come before him with joyfull songs. Know that the Lord is God. It is he who made us, and we are his, we are his people, the sheep of his pasture. Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise, give thanks to him and praise his name, for the Lord is good and his love endures forever, his faithfulness continuew through all generations.

The "Exegete" of the Father
Elsewhere I have said that we cannot know God by thinking, but that we must do a lot of thinking if we would know Him well. This sounds self-contradictory, but I am sure that the two statements are in full accord with each other. The inability of the human mind to know God in a true and final sense is taken for granted throughout the Bible and even taught in plain words in such passages as these: No man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him.
The world by wisdom knew not God. The things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God. God's nature is of another kind from anything with which the mind is acquainted; hence when the mind attempts to find out God it is confronted by obscurity. It is surrounded with mystery and blinded by the light no man can approach unto. A consideration of this truth led some thinkers of the past to conclude that since it is impossible for man to discover God by means of any faculties he possesses, God must therefore remain not only unknown but unknowable.
What these men overlooked was that when God desires He can and does reveal Himself to men. The Spirit of God is able to make the spirit of man know and experience the awful mystery of God's essential being. It should be noted that the Spirit reveals God to the spirit of man, not to his intellect merely. The intellect can know God's attributes because these constitute that body of truth that can be known about God. The knowledge of God is for the spirit alone. Such knowledge comes not by intellection but by intuition .
Prayer
The more I gaze upon You, Lord, the more I know the Father. You are the Revealer of the Father.
Scripture
No one has ever seen God, but God the One and Only, who is at the Father's side, has made him known.
— John 1:18
Thought
The Greek term translated "made him known" is related to the word from which we get "exegesis." Christ has "exegeted," clearly made known to us the Father. Christ reflects the Father.

God wants you to be the ignition switch of his power...
"Give the signal. Turn the key. Press the button. Release the power," writes Kenny Luck, a contributor to this week's content, in New Man.
"Men love the idea of ignition. We love initiating sequences that blow up or blast off things. At the moment of ignition, there's an excitement and a rush because we know a demonstration of power is going to follow. It is by design.
"God wants you to be the ignition switch of his power by deciding to move your conversations over to Christ. According to Jesus, God's man can choose to experience the power of God by deciding to share his faith.
"Jesus put it in this way to his guys: 'But when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, you will receive power and will tell people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samara, and to the ends of the earth.' Whoa! Now that's a blast zone.
"All of Jesus' men waited at the ignition switch of the Holy Spirit. It came at Pentecost when they all went nuclear, boldly sharing the gospel without fear. For the full picture, read Acts 2 to 4. The point to ponder is this: The power is given to, and experienced by, God's man when he opens his mouth for Christ."
This week is about getting past our tendency to clam up about our faith
